Janet Hart
Janet Hart has devoted her career to making music and teaching piano. Her degrees are from Oklahoma Baptist University and Westminster Choir College, and she studied piano performance and pedagogy at The New School for Music Study with the late Frances Clark and Louise Goss, renowned creators of the Frances Clark Piano Library. She has served on the music faculties at Oklahoma Baptist University and The University of Kansas. In 2000, she founded The Music Clubhouse (a community music school in Lawrence, Kansas) where she continues her work with students of all ages and mentors a staff of other piano teachers. The Piano Detectives Club curriculum she created represents over 20 years of research and study to discover how to give young students the best start at the piano.
Christy J. Miller
Dr. Christy J. Miller has over twenty years of piano and musicology teaching experience and is the illustrator and co-creator of the Piano Detectives Club program. She holds degrees from William Jewell College and the University of Kansas. Christy is a former faculty member of the New School for Music Study and William Jewell College, and she has taught classes at the University of Kansas. Her musicology interests lie in American folk music, and she is a 2015 BMI Woody Guthrie Research Fellow. Christy currently maintains a private piano studio at The Music Clubhouse in Lawrence, Kansas and is an active performer in the community.
